Little light
Little light is a day care/ orphanage i widh i visited last Saturday. In the next xouple of months i am going to go to Little light every Saturday and tutor the kids in English and Math. My first time at little light was a great experience as i learnt how to communicate with kids and give them the best way of understanding math and English. In the first hour and a half i taught the kids in my group thw multiplication table and some simple English words that can be used differently in different sentences. I think that my way of teaching using visual images and songs made a great impact on the kids. in the last half hour we played with the kids outside and taught them little dances as they also taught us their games.

Teaching Hebrew
Today was my first lesson in teaching Hebrew to a beginner. The most important thing for him was to learn how to read and write since he is converting to Judaism and wants to understand the Torah.I planned the lesson before and printed our worksheets of the Hebrew alphabet. My plan was to teach the first six letters however I had a lot of time left and ended up teaching him how to write all 22 letter of the Hebrew alphabet. I then wrote simple words for him to read and understand. i believe that after writing each letter 10 times and practicing the letters in words he got the hang of some of the writing rules. Teaching a new language from English is a very new skill to me since i am only speaking English for 4 years. I have never taught a language before and it required a lot of patience and different teaching skills. Hopefully i will be able to plan better for the next lesson and develop my skills as we progress with the lessons.

CAS initial Self-Review
My first CAS homework is to answer 7 questions about my self and i thought to myself that there is no better way of doing it than posting my answers in this blog :) so here are the questions:
- What is your greatest accomplishment so far?how has this affected your life?what did you learn from it? my greatest accomplishment so far is passing my IGCSE exams with good results in all of my 9 subjects.Considering that 4 years ago I did not know a single word in English made this a very great accomplishment (especially my A* in English language :o). Studying for my IGCSE exams made me be a lot more organized in terms of notes and time management. Also when dealing with stress I got to look at things in a different prospective and learn that there are worst things that can happen and that exams are not the end of the world. after getting my results I learned to take things easy and now I know that stressing out will not benefit me in any way.
- what are you really good at? subject wise I would say that i'm good at art, biology and maths. In fact i like expressing myself through art and i'm very bad at expressing myself with words. however since the IB program includes taking risks and doing new things I decided to express myself with words in this blog. As a person i think that I am good at being a good listener and advice giver.
- Name one skill that you have always wanted to develop in your life but that you haven't yet. apart from being able to express myself in writing I always wanted to have the skills of a good leader that is able to influence other people and inspire them.
- Name one activity that you would like to try but that you haven't yet. why would you like to try it? I always wanted to learn how to play any kind of music instrument. with my passion of singing I always thought it would be amazing to know how to play some music along but never had the time or patience to start learning.
- Name a person that you admire right now. what qualities does this person have that you don't ? I could list at least 10 famous, world changing people that I admire and get inspired by . However I would like to name a person that i admire the most right now, my sister. my sister started her IB program exactly a year ago. I believe that my sister meets all the ib profile qualities and even more. she is a risk taker, a thinker, caring, principled, inquirer, knowledgeable, communicator, reflective, open minded and balanced. on top of that she is a great leader, a listener, organised and positive person that inspires me every single day.
- what's different about you now compared to what you were like when you were 10 years old? I am definitely more mature. I look at things in a different perspective from when I was a child and i can now handle life in a more mature way.
- Describe the kind of person you think you will be post IB. I hopefully will be the IB learner profile which is inquirer, reflective, thinker, caring , risk taker, knowledgeable, communicator, balanced , principled and open minded. Also i believe that I will be a much more organised person.
